Minister of Transportation, Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has assured Nigerians that the Transport University in Daura, Katsina state under construction will be ready for commissioning by September, 2022.   The Minister, while giving the assurance on Monday in Daura, when he visited the school to inspect the level of work done so far, said that the contractor has assured him that the remaining seven buildings will be ready before September.

Amaechi disclosed that the Transportation University is expected to commence academic activities this year.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari, while performing the ground breaking ceremony in December 2019, asserted that the University of Transport, if established would bring rapid development to the transport sector.

While speaking to journalists, Amaechi, noted that education is key to the building and maintenance of all transportation infrastructures, saying that was the reason he insisted on the establishment of University of Transportation in the area.

According to the Minister, “I have asked the Permanent Secretary to invite the contractor for a meeting so that the school can start functioning from September.”

On the Dala Dry Port in Kano state, the Minister commended the efforts of the contractors, but however urged them to put more efforts so as to complete the project as scheduled for commissioning by President Buhari.

“If you say I’m not impressed, that will be wrong, they promised me that they will complete the project by today.

“Have they completed the structures? Yes, but I didn’t see the landscaping. So, I said until they have completed the landscaping, I will not be able to bring the president here for inauguration.

”By the time they complete the landscaping, we can then bring the President to inaugurate the project, but it appears they have finished the structures”

Also recalled that, on Saturday 9 April, 2022, Amaechi in Port Harcourt, declared his intention to contest for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

After the declaration, Amaechi paid homage to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero and the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Farouk Umar Farouk in their various palaces.

The Minister also used the opportunity of the visit to officially notify the Emirs of his intention to contest for the position of president come 2023 general elections.
