ASCSN calls on FG to sack ES, NIPC for incompetent, others

By Peter Usman://

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as matter of urgency remove the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, NIPC, Ms. Yewande Sadiku for incompetent and replace her with a more capable hand.

The union in a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, which was copied the Vice President, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Minister of Labour and Employment among others, and signed by the Secretary General of ASCSN, Alade Bashir Lawal, said the Executive Secretary of NIPC, Ms. Sadiku was not competent enough to pilot the affairs of the commission.

ASCSN asserted that she also disregard the Commission’s operational organogram in a desperate bid to hoard vacancies thereby causing serious clog in the career progression of the staff.

The union said the agency saddled with the onerous responsibility of promoting both foreign and domestic investments in Nigeria has completely derailed from its core mandate under the stewardship of Ms. Yewande Sadiku, hence the need for her to be sacked without further delay.

“It is on record that for about five years in the saddle, there has been no known single positive Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) response to Nigeria. This is after spending humongous amount of money on over seventy inconsequential foreign trips, without official reports, in line with Government policy and international best practice” it said.

In the letter, ASCSN also accused Ms. Sadiku of brazen manipulation of Computer Based Test (CBT Examination) results, alleged  that the ES doctored the result of the examination conducted by the Public Service Institute of Nigeria; PSIN.

“This was done to promote ethnicity possibly to incite disaffection and labour unrest in the Commission. The Executive Secretary has always exhibited such tendencies during the 2016 and the 2018 Examination exercises. Several correspondence to the Honourable Minister, Industry, Trade and Investment on the need for him to intervene and resolve the matter were all to no avail.

“In light of the foregoing, Your Excellency, the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN humbly wish to request that you turn your search light on the NIPC with a view to righting all the wrongs perpetrated by Ms. Sadiku and also replacing the ES with a more competent hand that will complement the very excellent effort of Mr. President in repositioning the country for greater glory”

The Leadership of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, the Union that constitutes Council of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council, INPSNC and a frontline affiliate member of the Trade Union Congress, TUC of Nigeria, however commended President Buhari for providing level playing field for industrial peace and harmony to thrive in the Public Service.

“Also, worthy of mention is the massive infrastructural development embarked upon by your Administration across the Federation most especially in the areas of Rail and Road Construction, amongst others. These include Port Harcourt Maiduguri, Kano Lagos rail lines projects. The totality of all of these has gone a long way to reassure Nigerians in general and Public Servants in particular of your Excellency’s commitment to improving the living condition of the citizens of this great Nation.

“We, as a responsible Trade Union body, will continue to pray for your Excellency’s success as you change the narrative of years of neglect and unbridled corruption that had been the hallmark of the past Administrations in the country.”
