As Labour Party, LP governorship primary election in Edo state is around the corner, one of its aspirants, Prince Egbe Humphery Omorodion, has pledged to revitalize tourism sector, if elected as the next Governor of Edo state.

Prince Omorodion, while expressing worries over the state of tourism sector and culture of the people in Edo state, promised to invigorate the areas within a short period of time.

“I came into politics so as to bring back the old glory of Edo people considering the fact that things have deteriorated so fast”, he said.

Speaking with newsmen in an interview during the weekend, he noted that the Moat of Benin and the Great Walls of Benin Kingdom were built by Benin people themselves, wondering why the peoples’ art and culture life is gradually vanishing.

“If elected to succeed the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki of the PDP next year, I will revive arts, culture and sports, where Edo youths will be gainfully engaged.” Prince Omorodion said.

According to him, “I spent many years in civil service. I was in charge of budget and budgetary control for Leed City Council, the second largest government organisation in the United Kingdom.

“One of my cardinal roles was creating jobs for young people and I noticed that one of the problems we have in our hands in Edo is that, we are not using one of our most exclusive resources which is manpower to create energy.

“I can help in that area if I get there and I have a blueprint that I can use to bring a lot of differences that will really affect our people for good. In 18 months, Edo State will be a different place entirely”, he said.

Prince Omorodion urged the people of the state to reject any candidate, who has not been involved in budgetary control and policy formulation; he explained that this would give room for inefficiency and corruption.

He further assured Edo people that under him, there would be zero tolerance for corruption.

Prince Omorodion, who is an accountant and a medical practitioner, said Edo state, in spite of its rich human and material resources is not in it right position.

He asserted that he is contesting for the governorship position in the state so as to bring good life to the people.

The Labour Party aspirant assured the people of the state that the economy would grow beyond the imagination of the people if elected as Governor in 2024.

Prince Omorodion, who revealed that he has managed budget size three times larger than that of Edo state, said he will use his global exposure and outstanding managerial skills, which he has acquired over the years to turnaround the state.
