NCPC boss says, no suspension of pilgrimage exercise as alleged by some individuals

The Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam has denied allegations of financial scandal and suspension of pilgrimage exercises as published by some media organisations, saying the prigrimage activities are currently ongoing in Israel and Jordan.

The NCPC boss made this assertion on Friday, 2nd December, 2022, when the Old students from College of Mary Immaculate, Zawan Jos, Plateau state paid him a courtesy visit at the Corporate Headquarter of the commission in Abuja.

Recently, it was alleged that the Board of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC has suspended all pilgrimage exercises over financial scandal and flagrant disregard of processes and abuse of office by the Executive Secretary of the Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam.

Rev. Dr Pam noted that the allegations is the handiwork of some elements trying to distract the activities of the commission, adding that more than 100 pilgrims are currently performing their pilgrimage at the Holy land of Israel and Jordan.

“We have over 100 pilgrims in Israel and Jordan currently and the pilgrimage activities are ongoing. The pilgrimage exercise is not suspended as speculated by some individuals in the social media” Rev Pam said.

Earlier in an address, the President of Zawan Old Students Association, ZOSA Hon. Danlami Awaje, who came from Jos on courtesy visit expressed delight for the warm reception accorded them by the Executive Secretary, stating that members of the Association are proud of his achievements so far in the Commission.

He said, “Thank you for being a worthy ambassador. The Federal Government did not do mistake by appointing you to head this Commission. Our prayer for you is to excel, leaving a legacy behind worthy of emulation after your tenure.”

Speaking on the dilapidated state of the College of Mary Immaculate, Zawan Jos, where Rev Pam graduated from, the group said they have come to seek for the assistant of the Executive Secretary to eneble them rehabilitate the college to its old glory.

Responding, the NCPC boss promised to assist by contacting some agencies and commissions, and as well organise some programmes that will attract parents to enroll their children in the school.

“First, I will come and supervise the school, take the reports to Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC and contact other agencies to see how we can help upgrade the school.

“We will also organise programmes that will attract parents to enroll their children and wards in the school, as that would go a long way to increase the number of students. During the programmes, if people discover that great people came out of the school, they will definitely send their children there” he said.
