Vigilante arrests three ritualists in Niger state

…Specialised in exhuming dead bodies for rituals

As preparation for the 2023 general elections is gathering momentum, the activities of some criminal elements believed to be ritualists have been reported in some parts of er State, the IDEALPOSTS has authoritatively gathered.

The areas where the activities of the ritualists was so pounced in the last four weeks, include Makera, in Lavun local government area,  Sabon wuse, in Tafa local government,  Bisanti in Katcha local government  Pago In Paikoro local government and some part of Minna, the state capital.

It was reliably gathered that the ritualists carry out their nefarious activities in the grave yards where they exhume the already buried dead bodies.

As a result of the increasing rates of the activities of these ritualists, some communities within the grave yards have laid siege aimed at apprehending any of the ritualists.

Already their effort have  yielded a fruitful result with arrest of three of the suspected ritualists in Adunu area of Paikoro local government by some men of the local vigilante group who were on routine patrol in the area. Hamisu Danmusa, Bala Yushau, and Ibrahim Salha all from Katsina state were intercepted by watchful men of the local vigilante corps when their movement became suspicious in the community.

It was also gathered that during their arrest, a Ghana must go bag in their possession contained some parts of human bodies believed to  have been exhumed from grave yard.

During interrogation by the vigilante men, both of them admitted exhuming the bodies from the grave yard and they were alleged to have been contracted by some prominent politicians in the state.

When they were being interrogated, the ritualists revealed that they were given the sum of N250,000 as an advance payment out of N1 million agreed upon by the politicians.

Several calls put across to the Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, of Niger State Police Command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun by our correspondent were not responded.

However, a senior officer in the state Command Headquarters of the vigilante corps, who crave for anonymous told IDEALPOSTS that the three suspects were undergoing some questionings, after which they will hand them over to the police for further investigation.

“They are given us very useful information about their activities in Niger State ahead of 2023 general elections.

“Apart from exhuming dead bodies from the graveyards in some part of Niger State, there had been reported cases of missing persons in the last three months in Minna, the Niger State capital.

“Findings have also revealed that in most of the reported cases of missing persons, the victims had not been seen or reunited with their loved ones. In most cases, it was discovered that their parts were removed for ritual purpose.” the vigilante corps said.

IDEALPOSTS  has so far gathered that no fewer than 12 of such cases were recorded within the last three months with women and children within the ages of six to ten being victims.
