Independence Day Celebration: FRSC, FCT Sector Command deploys 15 patrol vehicles, 4 towing trucks, 4 ambulances, 4 bikes

As part of measures put in place to ensure a hitch-free annual independence celebration in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, on 1st October, 2021, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, FCT Sector Commander, CC. Samuel Oga Ochi, revealed that a total of 15 patrol cars, 4 towing trucks, 4 ambulances and 4 bikes have been deployed for the exercise.

Ochi further disclosed that a total of 100 Marshals and 30 officers will be deployed for the condoning and traffic management during the period of the celebration.

He stated that apart from the parade that will take place in the morning at Eagle square on independence day, adequate arrangements have also be made for Friday mosque which will take place immediately after the parade in the afternoon the same day.

“There will be Friday prayer at the National Mosque after the parade at the Eagle square in the afternoon, so there will be deployment of personnel in the morning and full deployment in the afternoon as well before the commencement of afternoon prayer in the mosque to ensure that there is hitch free activities throughout the period” he said.

Ochi said, adequate publicity and enlightenment have been going on in the territory so as to educate the residents of the FCT on which routes to follow during the exercise.

He urged Nigerians to be cautious of their safety and not to allow miscreants take advantage of the celebration to cause unnecessary hold up during and after the celebration.

“Let us comport ourselves in an orderly manner as we use the roads in the FCT, particularly immediately after the activities. There is no doubt that people will celebrate the independence in various parks in the FCT.  

“We are going to deploy our personnel to various parks in the city to ensure safety of road users. People should cooperate with our men that are going to control the traffic in those locations so that they can arrive at their destinations safely” the sector Commander said.

Ochi however informed that those that were not invited for the programme should not even come down to the Eagle square as such people will not be accommodated.
