The Hausa leader in Imo State, South East Nigeria, (Sarki Hausawa) Alhaji Auwal Baba Sulieman, has commended the working visit of President Muhammadu to the State, describing the visit as a symbol of unity and  equity, an indication that President Muhammadu Buhari is for all Nigerians despite ethnicity, tribe and religious differences..

He stated this while speaking with journalists, who paid him courtesy visit at Sarkin Palace in Owerri, the Imo state capital, on Thursday September 9, 2021.

The traditional leader added that despite the tension the state has been experiencing over the last six months and the notion that President Muhammadu Buhari would however not be able to step his feet in South-East, the visit has prove those who have been peddling the rumours wrong.

“The working visit of President Muhammadu Buhari today is a thing of joy, a symbol of unity, a surprising thing to the natives of Imo state when they heard that Mr. President was coming because a lot of them thought it was not going to become a reality. There was speculation and notion going around that President Buhari wouldn’t be able to step his feet in the south-east because of the tension in the last six months. But today, with the coming of Mr. President, that notion has been put to rest.

“I think the visit is very significant because he was able to touch some issues that affects or bothering the Igbos. The President general of Eze Ndigbo (Ohanaeze), who was able to point those areas to Mr. President and subsequently Mr. President, was also able to address some of those issues raised. He equally assured the Igbos that his governance is for all.

“This also a prove that the President is not a President of one side of the country or has come to Islamise Nigeria. Because these are rumours that have been spreading all over the states, especially the south-eastern region”, he said.

According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari also sighted some of the projects his administration has executed in the south-east, especially the second Niger bridge, which the construction is still ongoing and Enugu-Port-Harcourt road, which has been completed among others.

The Sarkin Hausawa also asserted that Governor Hope Uzodimma  has a cordial relationship with the northern communities, pointing out that the governor equally appointed three northerners as special assistants in his government.

“Actually, Senator Hope Uzodimma, the Executive Governor of Imo State has a very cordial relationship with the northern communities, especially the Muslims in the state.

“I would like to say here that he has been carrying the Muslims and northern communities long. All the promises he made to us, I think he is not lacking in any of them. He has appointed three northerners as special assistants in his government. So, these are some of the good things we will always remember him for. We pray that the Almighty Allah, gives him the wisdom that will enable him to champion the affairs of the state effectively”, he added.
