Hon. Omadefu explains roles of legislators

Chairman House Committee on Information, Nasarawa State House of Assembly,

Hon. Mohammed Adamu Omadefu, has emphasized on the constitutional role of legislators.

Omadefu, while explaining the functions of members as enshrined in the constitution said, it includes lawmaking, representation and oversight.

The lawmaker made this clarification in an interview with our correspondent in his office at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly complex along Shendam road, Lafia.

Hon. Omadefu, narrowing it to himself, says that within the last 2years of his representation in the lawmaking business, a lot has been achieved in his Keana constituency.

“I want to tell you with all humility that so far, so good within the period under review in the cost of debating, I have participated in most of the bills passed by the assembly, as you know, the bills cannot not be passed without debating so that superior argument takes advantage at the end.

The chairman house committee on information added that one of the cardinal function and wheel of legislatures is lobbing capacity.

“By the grace of God I am able to influence a lot of projects to my constituency. We have the likes of transformers, rehabilitation of boreholes which were abandoned for so many years and construction of road network especially those at the budget and more better things that will improve the leaving standard of my constituents” he stated.

He also said that peace is a keystone of meaningful development of every society.

“What I have been doing is working round the clock to ensure peace, unity and oneness among my people, if that come to bear, it will attract opportunities and developmental projects.

“Above all, Keana is expecting exploration of oil which I and the governor are in closed talk to see that this dream come realistic.

” Recently, I was opportune to be part of state delegations to Jos, Plateau state capital for the public hearing of constitution amendments. I was privilege to be part of the assembly adhoc to generate position for the state.

” What will also interest you to know is that, as committee, we interface with Governor, Sule,  and he informed us about some things he had in mind for us.

“But with the lingering crisis here and there I have been encouraging the governor to see the possibility of road constructions. if that is done, it will attract more socioeconomic status and thereby provide security of lives and properties of citizens of the area.

He equally pointed out that keana is situated at a flashpoint of Benue state anti open grazing laws.

The lawmaker appealed to people to continue to support Gov. Sule’s administration to enable him succeeds in his plans to move the state forward.
