Insecurity: Nasarawa monarch applauds FG, NSSG on curtailing bandits

The Egbura traditional ruler, Ohimege of Opanda, the First Class traditional ruler of Egbura people in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi has lauded the Federal and the Nasarawa state Governments for their efforts in tackling the activities of bandits and other criminal elements in Toto LGA.
The monarch said the government security efforts has yielded positive result in the area and appealed for more proactive action against remnants of kidnappers especially between Ugya and Shafan Abakpa forest.
The Royal Father gave the commendation while speaking with newsmen in his palace at Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
He said that Gov. Abdullahi Sule has contributed a lot to see that peace returned to the area considering the activities of bandits and other forms of insecurities in the area last year.
” I want to express my gratitude to the Almighty Allah and also to His Excellency, Engr. A. A. Sule for helping us in maintaining peace in this area.
” He has contributed a lot to see that we live in peace in this area. We are grateful to him because last year this time, we had the Sallah in a very sad mood.
“But this year, everybody is happy, everybody is jubilating because peace has returned to this area, Nevertheless, we still have some ruminants, some of these bandits are in the forest.
“I am therefore calling on His Excellency and also the Federal Government to take proactive action against these people.
“They only way they can do it is to allow the military men to go in there to flush them out of the forest,” he said.
Usman Abdullahi also urged the Federal Government to recruit more youths into the Nigerian Army, adding that most of the youths are jobless.
The royal father while congratulating the Muslims on their successful Ramadan fast, urged them to continue to imbibe the spirit of love, tolerance and forgiveness to foster peace and unity in the area and the country at large.
He called on the Muslims and other Nigerians to pray for the unity, peace, security, progress and development of the country
The first class traditional ruler urged his subjects and other Nigerians to embrace agriculture considering its importance to human and national development.
“I want my people to go back to the farm in order to be self reliance and to boost food security among other benefits,” he added.
Usman Abdullahi also advised the youths against using the social media in causing disharmony and disunity among leaders and other people in the area and the nation at large.
“Our boys are forming or telling all sorts of nonsense in the social media causing disharmony and disunity among our leaders and we should not allow that to continue. We are not going to tolerate it.
“Anyone caught using social media for hate speech or fake news will be dealt with and punished in the palace accordingly.
“What I need from them is unity not division. Let them come together, embrace one another in the interest of peace and development of the area, the state and the country at large,” he added.
He urged the people of the area and the state at large to support Gov Abdullahi Sule’s administration and other leaders at all levels to succeed in order to enjoy more dividends of democracy.
The first class traditional ruler further enjoined his subjects and other Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities and live peacefully with one another irrespective of their differences for development to thrive.
