Nasarawa Govt reiterates commitment to boost ICT- DG

Nasarawa state Government has reaffirmed its commitment to boost e-Library and Information Technology Centers across the state.

Director General of Bureau for Information, Communication and Technology, BICT, in the state, Comrade Shehu Ibrahim, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent in Keffi.

Ibrahim explained that the establishment of e-library has been very good for the state, adding that it took time before they were able to get it right.

“The purpose of establishing e-libraries is aimed at impacting ICT knowledge to our people, to develop the youth and give them ICT knowledge, which can be use later” he stated.

Comrade Ibrahim re-emphased that the library is a place of knowledge for the purpose of boosting conventional subject as well as ICT skills to move the state forward.

“For your information, our e-libraries as at January 28 this year, we were fully equipped and functional ready to service our people. For those that want to read our digital books, this current e-library has over 44 million digital books available” he said

He also said that plans are underway to expand Internet service to ease and ensure effective services, adding that hopeful, they will extend to cafe services.

Speaking on how people at the grassroots level will have access to internet services, Comrade Ibrahim revealed that government will reach out to interior communities to ensure vulnerable people enjoy the services like any other people in the state.
