The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology/Cybercrime, Senator Yakubu Oseni, has supported the call on Federal Government to urgently complete Abadigba-Egume power plant project in Dekina Local Government Area.

This was sequel to a motion raised by Senator Jibril Isa Echocho representing Kogi East, who argued at the plenary that continuous abandonment of the power plant project which commenced in 2017 has defeated the original aim of the project which was to light up Kogi East.

He lamented that since commencement of the project in 2017, no further effort has been made by the government to complete it and the area has largely been in the darkness.

While supporting the motion, Senator Oseni who was worried about the spate of project abandonment in the country explained that upon completion, Abadigba-Egume power plant project will improve the soicio-economic development of the area and the country.

Consequently, the Senate mandated its Committee on Power to liaise with the Federal Ministry of Power to take necessary action for immediate completion of the project. The Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawal specifically mandated the Senate Committee on Power to report back within four weeks.
