Instead of attacking Bishop Kukah, approach the issue peacefully-Shehu Sani tells Muslim group
By Ibrahim Suleiman/:
The Muslim Solidarity Forum in Sokoto State has been warned against issuing threats or attacks on the Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Hassan Kukah.
A former member of the National Assembly, Shehu Sani gave the warning on Wednesday in reaction to an earlier statement by the Muslim group asking Kukah to apologise or leave Sokoto.
The forum had advised Kukah to quickly and quietly leave Sokoto or stop what the group called “his malicious vituperations against Islam and Muslims”.
The group also enjoined Bishop Kukah to tender an unreserved apology to the Muslim Ummah over his Christmas message to Nigerians.
But in response, Kukah had said he was ready to apologise if he is shown any part of his Christmas sermon that insulted Islam.
Sani in a tweet advised the Muslim group to engage the Bishop in a debate instead of issuing threats. He also wants them to approach the issue peacefully.
“My Dear Muslim Forum Sokoto, go in peace and meet Kukah in his Parish, engage him in a debate and defeat or win him over with your superior argument; be a tolerant host, no need to threaten or ‘expel him’. Don’t set a precedent for ‘Quit noticing the messenger,’”
