Chairman, Shiroro LG, Niger state impeached over embezzlement of funds

The Shiroro local government council Chairman in Niger state, Suleiman Dauda Chukuba has been impeached for misappropriation and embezzling of Council funds.
The Chairman was impeached by the Councillors during their sitting in Kuta, the headquarters of Shiroro local government council.
It was learnt that 11 out of 14 Councillors voted for his impeachment in the sitting which was presided by the Leader of the House, Malam Yusuf Aliyu.
The allegations against the Chairman include the withdrawal and spending of the local government Internally Generated Reverse (IGR) without following due procedure or receiving approval from the legislative council.
The Chairman was also accused of embezzling the said funds as no accurate account could be given on how the money was expended and he was also accused of refusing to present to the legislative council the estimate of revenues and expenditures of the local government for a year.
The 14 councillors of Shiroro local government council then proceeded to the Government House in Minna for a meeting with some key government officials after their impeachment sitting.
