Judiciary, the hope of common man – Gov Diri

Bayelsa state Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Friday said the judiciary remains the hope of the common man in any society.
Governor Diri who stated this during a thanksgiving service, to commomerate the Bayelsa State Judiciary 2020/2021 Legal Year, in Yenagoa, promised to help complete the Greater Evangelism World Crusade Auditorium.
He said as human beings, it is very important to offer God thanksgiving despite the situation people find themselves.
The Governor said he was ready to partner with the judiciary better develop Bayelsa , even though the state was going through financial crisis.
“We will also try and address the pending issues and challenges facing the judiciary in Bayelsa.” he stated.
In her remarks, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Kate Abiri, said the legal year was an age-long British tradition, which the judicial community, the superior Courts of records and other stakeholders take time out to give thanks to God for a successful end of a previous Legal Year.
She said: “In this epoch-making ceremony very fundamental issues relating to the entire Justice Sector in the state are usually discussed and addressed without bias by stakeholders in the sector.
“The Bench, the Private and Official Bar will be present addresses with a view to bring to the notice of the public and court users how it had faired, in it’s expectations and aspirations”
Abiri said at the passing into law of the Child’s Right Bill, the Family Court was created both at the magistrate court and the high court. The family court ought to be a separate building that should be child friendly.
She said that would employ temporary staff to to fill in vacancies created by staff who left empowerment.
Abiri said that the construction work of the Magistrate Court complex which commenced in 2016 was yet to be completed. The workload on the Magistracy is on the increase.
“The three arms of government in the state are in their best relationship without any fear of contradiction.”
