Bayelsa first lady urges youths to remain focused, shun vices

Wife of Bayelsa State Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Gloria Diri has advised youths to remain focused and shun all forms of Vices to become better citizens.

Dr. Diri gave the advice when the Shepherd Guide of Nigeria, Bayelsa Council paid her a courtesy visit at her office in Government House, Yenagoa.

The First Lady noted that challenges and difficulties are natural causes which when surmounted provides experiences that enables successful living.

She emphasied that the experiences of Teenage Years could be very trying if there are no Role Models, Mentors to give proper guidance and directions hence some Adolescents stray.

While raising concerns over the moral decadence in the society, she applauded the Shepherd Guide of Nigeria for creating the Platform to groom the minds of the young, wherein many have become useful to themselves and the society.

She therefore, urged the Adolescents to abide by the virtues inculcated in them by the Shepherd Guide.

Representing the president of Shepherd Guide Bayelsa Council, Comrade Walton Liverpool, Dr. Anapurere Awoli, said the council has over the years, groomed Children between the ages of 5 to 18 by the use of different programnes and activities to educate, enlighten and build capacity in Secondary School.

The aim he stressed is to develop and restore Godly traits, patriotism,humaness among other virtues in young Children.

ln his remarks, Founder of Shepherd Guide Nigeria, Mr. Alphaeus Ayebaemi disclosed that the Organisation has resolved to honour Mrs. Gloria Diri for her Outstanding Humanitarian gestures and service to humanity as a ‘GRAND STATE PATRONESS.’

He appealed to the Wife of the Governor to accept the honour as the historic ‘Decoration Ceremony’, will hold on Sunday 11th October,2020 in commemoration of the International Day of the ‘Girl Child’.
