Ngige grieves with Ebonyi state on loss of 30 lives


Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has expressed sorrow over the loss of 30 lives in a ghastly road accident in Ebonyi State.

Speaking on behalf of the management and staff of the Ministry, the Minister described as a national disaster, the death of 30 people in that accident, which occurred on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Akaeze Bridge in Ivo Local Government Area of the State.

In a condolence message to the government and people of Ebonyi State, Ngige stated, “The news that over 30 lives were lost was distressing and agonizing to me.

“I understand the anguish that those who lost their loved ones are experiencing at this time. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased, while I wish the injured speedy recovery.”

He said, “My dear brother, the Governor of Ebonyi State, we stand with you and the entire people of Ebonyi State in this moment of grief.”

The Minister enjoined the families of the deceased, and the government and people of Ebonyi State to be consoled and bear the incident with forbearance.

“As we mourn, let us take solace in the fact that we are mortals and will one day return to our creator. May the Almighty God grant the souls of the departed eternal rest.”
