COVID-19: NBC cancels Africast 2020

National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has announced the cancellation of the 2020 edition of AFRICAST, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement signed by Management of the commission, the biennial conference of African broadcasters was cancelled following the current need for safety over the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement also noted that the ‘Content Market and Technology Expo’, which was scheduled to hold in Abuja from October 27-29, 2020, has been postponed to October, 2020.
NBC therefore, apologised for the unfortunate turn of events, stating that the biennial occasion would be rescheduled for October, 2020.
The statement read in part, “The National Broadcasting Commission of Nigeria, the organizers of this biennial event, regrets all inconveniences the cancellation may cause prospective delegates, Exhibitors, Mastersclass Students, and Journalists.
Africast is a biennial conference of African Broadcasters hosted by the National Broadcasting Commission in the month of October, it is a new gateway to Africa’s Broadcast Market, as well as a source for the enlightenment of journalists across the country.
The last edition of AFRICAST was the 12th edition held in 2018, with the theme, “The Dynamics of Broadcasting in the Digital Era”, which was meant to introduce more innovation to the flow of information across the country.
The 12th edition also featured a participation of over 700 delegates from across the globe and provided a platform for world-class exposition that showcased the best hands in creativity, innovation and technological advancements in Africa’s broadcast and media ecosystem.
