COVID-19: Come to rescue of Kogi people- Ujache Igala Association urges FG

Following the death of some prominent people in Kogi state due to coronavirus infection, Ujache Igala Association, a socio-cultural group, has called on the Federal Government to urgently put in measures that will stop the spread of the virus.
National Secretary of the Association, Mr Samuel Ugbede, made the call on Sunday in a statement made available to our correspondent in Abuja.
Ugbede also called on the Federal Task Force on Covid-19 to send Doctors and materials to Kogi so as to save the lives of the innocent people of the state.
He noted that there is no single laboratory for testing of coronavirus in Kogi state, saying that the state government has been relying on APP as material for testing people, which he said has been giving negative results.
According to the Secretary of the association, “Our lives are no longer save, federal government should urgently come to our rescue before the situation get out of hands”
“In Kogi state, there is still no single Laboratory for testing, the government is relying on APP to test the people and it has been negetive all round and people are dying of the disease with manifested symptoms. Doctors in the state have raised serious alarm, but government did not budge at all.
“Our government is not taking responsibility, there is no advocacy and public awareness on this dreaded disease. The believe here is that there is nothing like covid-19, but the death of the state CJ, Justice Nasir Ajana has brought the drama to an end. It is now confirmed that Coronavirus is in Kogi state and has started claiming lives, it is left for the people to take precaution now.
“Coronavirus is not respecter of any individual, group of people, a state or country, even the developed countries were not left out.
“With the death of justice Nasiru Ajana the Chief Judge of Kogi State in isolation centre in Abuja, the issue of denial of the Virus in the state has been laid to rest.
“Kogi is the only state in Nigeria without covid-19 isolation and test centre. The danger now is that the state is recording increased in covid-19 related deaths.
“The number of burial in all the local govt areas in the state keeps increasing with manifested symptom of the pandemic.
“The President should use his good office to come to our aide, the governor has guffed, please pardon us and send Task Force on covid-19 to Kogi to recuse and save our lives” he said.
