COVID-19: Nigerian Army donates Personal Protective Equipment to FCT Minister

As part of its efforts towards curbing the spread of COVID 19 pandemic in the territory, leadership of Nigerian Army has donated Personal Protective Equipment PPE, and other kits to FCT administration.
This is as President Muhammadu Buhari in a telephone conversation commiserated with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai, over the demise of his mother, Hajiya Hauwa Yusuf Buratai.
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu who disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, added that Buhari also condoled with all members of the family, praying that the almighty God will receive the soul of the departed matriarch, who lived a pious, prayerful and generous life.
President Buhari he said equally prayed that the almighty God will comfort Lt. Gen. Buratai, who has been at the epicenter of war against terrorists in North East, urging the family to find solace in Hajiya Hauwa’s good works.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff COAS, while presenting the PPEs to the Minister of Federal Capital Territory Mallam Mohammed Musa Bello at the Ministry in Abuja, said the donation is in support of the Federal Government’s efforts towards curbing the spread of the Coronavirus.
Represented by the Chief of Civil Military Affairs CIMIC, Army, Major General Hamza Ibrahim Bature, COAS described COVID-19 as a security threat to humanity.
He called on all Nigerians to join hands with government at all levels in the fight against the pandemic adding that the donation is part of Nigerian Army Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities in furtherance of maintaining excellent civil-military relations.
The Minister of FCT thanked Nigerian Army for identifying with citizenry in FCT in this trying period.
He said the equipment donated by the COAS will go a long way to support the frontliners working to curtail the virus even as he commended the COAS for his visionary leadership of the Nigerian Army.
Items donated include 2000 pieces of Face Masks, 1000 hand sanitizers, 100 pairs of PPE, 1000 pieces of hand gloves among others.
