60th AGM: FCT minister lauds West African college of surgeons

Minister, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has lauded the West African College of Surgeons, WACS for its contributions towards the development of medicine and surgery in the West Africa sub region.

Malam Bello who gave the commendation at the opening ceremony of the 60th  Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference  of the College, taking place in Abuja, said its members  were held in high esteem by the FCT Administration and are  strong partners in efforts by the Administration to deliver excellent healthcare services to residents.

He also commended WACS for the free medical outreach which involved over 1000 surgeries within and outside the FCT, describing the gesture as noble and selfless. The Minister particularly, thanked the doctors who devoted time and energy to the programme.

Malam Bello assured the WACS that the FCTA will continue to support and align itself with programmes and projects of the College that have direct bearing on the people of Abuja.

In his words: We assure you that, as you expand your operations within your headquarters, particularly the Centre for skill simulation and examination as well as other programmes you want to do, the city of Abuja will always be very proud and honoured to host you and provide you with all the needed support”.

In his address, WACS President, Prof Serigne Magueye Gueye commended the FCT Administration for its efforts in the successful hosting of the AGM in the FCT.

A highlight of the event was the conferment of Honorary Fellow of the College on the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Saád Abubakar III for his contribution to the promotion of healthcare delivery across the country.
